Who are Cadence?

Cadence Drum & Bugle Corps is part of a national youth organisation called Drum Corps United Kingdom (DCUK). Cadence comprises of approximately 60 young people aged between 8-25 Yrs. There is a Cadet band for those under 12 Yrs and a Main Corps for older Members. Within both bands there are four sections:-

BRASS
The Brass section involves many different brass instruments ranging from soprano trumpets to baritones and Contra Basses (Tuba).

PERCUSSION
The Percussion section involves several instruments which can be carried whilst marching, from Snare drums to bass drums.

PIT
The Pit section involves percussion instruments which are too large to be carried whilst marching, these instruments range from Xylophones and Timpani drums to tubular bells.

COLOUR GUARD
The Colour Guard provides the Corps with movement and COLOUR, by means of dance and spectacular colourful flags. The visual impact of the Colour Guard can be quite breathtaking.

FRIENDSHIP
Cadence is one big group of friends; during the course of a season as a Member of Cadence many hours are spent together and friendships within the Corps grow & grow.

COST
It costs very little to be a Member of Cadence for just £2.50 a week you will be supplied an instrument of your own to use whilst a Member. You will be taken with the Corps approximately 1000 miles around the U.K. and perform in front of thousands of people, you will be taught how to play an instrument by some very good instructors, you will have a great time!

COMPETITION
During the winter the Corps put together the music for the coming summer’s show, which will be used for the competition season.
Cadence competes in many National Competitions against other Drum Corps from all across the UK and even some from Holland.

SUCCESS
Cadence has placed highly in many regional and National competitions within the last few years, and is recognised nationally as one of the most consistent Drum Corps in the UK. In October 1999 Cadence became The Drum Corps United Kingdom British Champions.

HOW DO YOU FIT IN?
During the past few years many new members have joined Cadence to experience the excitement of being part of a real team. As we prepare for the 2003 summer season we are looking for new members in all sections. Drum Corps is a unique activity, there is something in it for everyone. whether you are experienced or not, Cadence will show you how to be a part of Drum Corps and how to have lots of good times with lots of good friends.
